No jesters in cages, no parades on the streets, no swaying in halls and halls, instead sessions that were broadcast online. Carnival during the coronavirus pandemic was more of a sad and dreary affair than a cheerful one. It was one big battle against the Ash Wednesday mood. A small consolation was the "best-of summary" of the Mainz TV carnival with contributions from the past 20 years.
