In 2016, the city council adopted the Integrated Traffic Development Concept (IVEK). Mayor Dr. Heike Kaster-Meurer is calling for a rethink in order to implement the concept, namely an equal distribution of traffic space. Sidewalks, cycle paths, bus lanes, green strips and space for private motorized traffic must all be included in the road space. Wilhelmstrasse plays an important role in this.
