Thomas Blechschmidt is the new mayor (1st alderman) of the town of Bad Kreuznach. The finance expert, who currently works for the Mainz-Bingen district administration, won the city council election after two rounds of voting with 26 votes against incumbent Wolfgang Heinrich (11 votes) and Jörg Gräff (7 votes). Whoever achieves a majority of 23 votes (44 members of the city council) is elected. "I congratulate Mr. Blechschmidt on his election victory and look forward to a good working relationship," says Lord Mayor Dr. Heike Kaster-Meurer.
