Silent commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust at the Kirschsteinanlage memorial

Mayor Dr. Heike Kaster-Meurer and the chairman of the Jewish community of Bad Kreuznach/Birkenfeld, Valeryan Ryvlin, met today at the memorial in the Kirschsteinanlage to silently commemorate the more than six million victims of the Holocaust. "Even if we cannot gather here to commemorate because of the Corona protection regulations, this day has great significance," said the mayor. On January 27, 1945, the 7600 survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp were liberated. In Auschwitz alone, more than one million people were murdered by the National Socialists. January 27 has been a national day of remembrance since 1996 and is now also celebrated in many other countries.
