In the Bad Kreuznach municipal forest, but also in the urban area, many oak trees are currently infested with the caterpillars of the oak processionary moth (EPS). As the municipal forestry department warns, there is a serious health risk if people come into contact with them. The caterpillars prefer oak trees on forest edges, in green areas, parks, sports grounds and swimming pools, i.e. where many people are often in the immediate vicinity of the trees.
