As a result of the First World War, the town of Bad Kreuznach was occupied by French troops from 1918 to 1930. Hotels, sports halls such as those of the MTV, but also private houses, especially in the spa area, were confiscated to house the military and were partly used as barracks. It was a very turbulent post-war period until 1924, as evidenced by the separatist coup and the food riots. As a result of the Ruhr crisis, many Kreuznach residents, especially civil servants and railroad workers, were expelled from Bad Kreuznach.
