He is known as the "Gässjemaler" or "Neustadtzeichner". Bertold Schwartz-Crato is one of the quirky and affectionate types who live in the historic city center. He has photographed the colorful and original scene there and then captured it with a brush on paper. For the Corona diary in the Haus der Stadtgeschichte, he drew the Stoff-Tempel, the store at Mannheimer Straße 40, whose shop window he used for his drawings during the vacancy phase in 2017/2018 before the renovation and opening. His pictures were also on display in the zag office and in the NaheRaum in the Catholic church on the Alte Nahebrücke.
