Eine Kurz-Dokumentation von Jörg Rehmann

Wind power without end?
Is the rest of the Hunsrück and Soonwald about to be sold off?

A short documentary by Jörg Rehmann

After 2011, the Rhine-Hunsrück district launched a model project for climate protection. The aim was to turn the region into a model energy transition region. Due to completely uncontrolled wind power planning, this turned into a dam burst that showered the entire region with wind turbines. The result was countless far-reaching conflicts and a split in the rural population. In 2015, the protests escalated as the wind power projects continued unabated. After a "vote by postcard", a consensus was reached between politicians, administration and citizens in 2015. After the Rhine-Hunsrück district had more than overfulfilled its contribution to the energy transition, the compromise was intended to mark the end of further wind power expansion. In particular, the valuable Soonwald region south of the B50 was to be protected from the addition of wind turbines. However, it is now becoming apparent that politicians are breaking their promise. The protests are flaring up again. Jörg Rehmann's short documentary impressively visualizes the development that led to the widespread destruction of the landscape in the Rhine-Hunsrück district.
